Peterborough United reportedly keen on move for Nottingham Forest midfielder Liam Bridcutt

Peterborough United are reportedly keen to take Nottingham Forest midfielder Liam Bridcutt on loan.

Bridcutt is sure to be available after slipping well down the pecking order and the Sun on Sunday say League One side Peterborough are ready to step in.

Bridcutt joined Forest from Leeds two years ago in a deal thought to be worth around £1m.

The former Leeds captain played 28 times in his first season at the City Ground but featured only four times last season, with three of those appearances coming in the EFL Cup.

Ryan Yates, Ben Watson, Adelene Guedioura, Claudio Yacob, Ben Osborn and Matty Cash all appear to be ahead of Bridcutt in manager Martin O'Neill's thoughts when it comes to central midfielders.

Forest are also keen to bring back Jack Colback from Newcastle, with Southampton's Harrison Reed an alternative.

At 30, Bridcutt will be keen for first team football, but it remains to be seen if the Scotland international will be willing to drop down a level.
