Peterborough United goalkeeper 'attracts attention' from Bristol Rovers and Shrewsbury Town - report

Bristol Rovers have shown an interest in bringing Aaron Chapman back to the club.

Goalkeeper Chapman spent time on loan at the Gas from Chesterfield in 2015, making five appearances.

He now plays for Peterborough United but was transfer listed this summer after one season at the club.

Rovers are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper having missed out on signing Jack Bonham - 25-year-old spent last season on loan at Rovers but opted to join Gillingham on his release from Brentford this summer.

They have already signed Dutchman Jordi van Stappershoef but manager Graham Coughlan is keen to add competition to his goalkeeping department.

Peterborough Today report that both Rovers and League One rivals Shrewsbury Town have shown interest in Chapman but, as of yet, no bids have been received by the Posh.

At 6ft 7in, the 29-year-old is a similar sort of stature to van Stappershoef and comes with plenty of experience in the EFL.

He made 60 appearances for Accrington Stanley in a two-year spell before joining the Posh in 2018.

Should Rovers make a move for Chapman, they could face competition from Shrewsbury, who are also on the lookout for a goalkeeper - although the Shropshire Star claim that manager Sam Ricketts is in no rush.
