Peterborough loser Nigel Farage somehow let into Downing Street for letter stunt

Loser Nigel Farage somehow gained access to Downing Street this morning to perform a nonsense stunt.

The Brexit Party were defeated in last night's Peterborough by-election.

Yet today, their leader turned up at Number 10 to deliver a letter demanding they get a seat at Brexit negotiations.

There are no negotiations, and Theresa May isn't in Downing Street today - she's spending her last day in office working from her constituency.

Earlier in the day, Mr Farage shared the astonishing insight that the Brexit Party didn't win the Peterborough by-election because too many people voted for a different party.

The stunt letter, which he tweeted in case the Prime Minister for some reason declined to open it, said: "The electorate have asked for us to come into the negotiating team and we are ready to do so immediately.”

There is no negotiating team, because there are no negotiations.

The letter goes on: “This is especially the case given the lack of activity and focus, due to the leadership contest.”

The lack of activity and focus is, in fact, due to the negotiations having concluded several months ago.

He told BBC Radio 4: “Now, the only reason the Brexit Party wasn’t able to push a couple of hundred votes past Labour was because quite a lot of people still voted Conservative.

“There are now seats like this over the country where Conservative voters are going to start to realise, if you vote Conservative, you are going to finish up with a Corbyn government.

“Once that gets through, we will begin to see tactical voting.”

Labour won last night’s by-election, sending candidate Lisa Forbes to Parliament and denying Farage his Brexit Party’s first MP.
