Peterborough injury news as Ferguson looks to change ahead of Sunderland test

Peterborough manager Darren Ferguson will make some significant changes to his side for the visit of Sunderland on Easter Monday.

The Posh still have hopes of making the final play-off place, and the Black Cats' win over Doncaster on Friday helped them in that regard.

However, Ferguson's men could only draw at Fleetwood Town, meaning they still have four points to make up on Grant McCann's Rovers, althoguh they have a game in hand.

But looking ahead to the visit of Jack Ross' men, Ferguson admitted he would have to change his side following the Good Friday draw.

However, he insists motivation won't be a factor given the opposition.

Ferguson said: “The game at Fleetwood would have taken a lot out of the players emotionally and physically so I will look to make changes.

“It’s a big game so motivation won’t be a problem which is good as we will probably have to win all four of our remaining matches to have a chance of catching Doncaster.

“We will keep going to the end though. It was obviously frustrating to concede what was an avoidable equaliser at Fleetwood, but we’ve already put that game behind us."

Former Newcastle United striker Ivan Toney could be one of the men to drop out of side, along with ex-Middlesbrough man Lee Tomlin, with Matt Godden and Callum Cooke pushing for a recall.

However, powerful defender Ryan Tafazolli looks set to miss the game after sitting out the Fleetwood draw, while Joe Ward is also a doubt for the home side.
