Peter Skoronski’s projected contract, first-year cap hit with Titans

Now that the Tennessee Titans have secured Peter Skoronski with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, we can take a look at his projected rookie contract.

According to Spotrac, Skoronski is projected to sign a fully guaranteed four-year, $19.6 million contract that carries a fifth-year option in 2027 and includes an $11.3 million signing bonus.

Also of note for the cash-strapped Titans is the deal being estimated to cost $3.5 million against the 2023 salary cap. Tennessee entered the draft with $11.4 million in cap space, per Spotrac.

With Skoronski on board, we now turn our attention to where he might actually play for Tennessee in 2023, as some doubt his ability to be a successful tackle thanks to short arms.

My way-too-early projection for the Titans’ starting offensive line puts him at left guard to start his career and Andre Dillard at left tackle, with the latter getting the edge simply thanks to experience.

However, I do think Skoronski has the tools to overcome his short arms and eventually become Tennessee’s franchise guy in that spot.

Of course, it would be more beneficial for Skoronski to land at left tackle for the long haul, as that would likely net him a bigger pay day in a second contract, assuming all goes well.

Depending on if his fifth-year option gets picked up down the line, Skoronski will have four to five years to work his way into that role. And, who knows, it could happen sooner than later.
