Peter Schmeichel urges Manchester United to sell players after Crystal Palace loss

Peter Schmeichel reminded Manchester United that transfer windows around Europe remain open after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men were beaten by Crystal Palace.

An injury-time strike by Patrick van Aanholt secured all three points for Palace after Jordan Ayew and Daniel James had scored for Palace and United respectively.

The result leaves United on four points after three games ahead of next week's trip to Southampton.

And after the game United great Schmeichel took to Twitter to tell United: 'There is hope, international transfer window is open for sales until September 2nd'.

Given how badly United lack squad depth, it is difficult to see which players from today's game the Reds would realistically consider selling.

United are open to letting Alexis Sanchez leave, while, in an ideal world, Matteo Darmian and Marcos Rojo would both find new clubs.

The only other fit members of United's squad who didn't make it into the matchday 18 against Palace are Chris Smalling, Phil Jones and Fred.

There will likely be calls from supporters for Solskjaer to bring more young players into the fold for the trip to St. Mary's.

Angel Gomes was included in the provisional squad against Palace but was omitted from the 18, while James Garner and Tahith Chong both scored in the under-23s' win over Newcastle on Friday.

Greenwood, Gomes, Garner and Chong were all added to the first-team squad list on United's website last week.
