Peter Schmeichel sends message to Manchester United loanee Dean Henderson after Liverpool mistake

Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel has sent a supportive message to Dean Henderson after his mistake in Sheffield United's 1-0 defeat to Liverpool.

The Blades put in a tremendous performance against the European champions, limiting the chances they had on goal and created chances for themselves.

However, the newly-promoted side ended the match empty handed as an error from stopper Henderson, who is on loan from United, saw Georginio Wijnaldum's tame effort from outside the box bobble through his legs and into the net.

That result maintained Liverpool's 100 per cent streak this season and saw the Reds open up an eight-point lead over Manchester City, who tackle Everton in Saturday's late kick-off.

While Henderson will understandably be dejected following his error, Schmeichel took to social media to issue a message of support to the 22-year-old.

"Young man Dean Henderson, clear your head son, it never happened. You are doing really well and there's another game around the corner and life goes on #GolieLife," the Dane posted on Twitter.

Henderson, part of Sheffield United's promotion-winning side last season, has played every game for Chris Wilder's side in the Premier League so far this season.
