Former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel insists that Jose Mourinho will regret not starting Tanguy Ndombele in Spurs' loss at Old Trafford.
The Spurs boss fell to his first defeat since arriving at the club as they lost 2-1 to Manchester United on Mourinho's return to his former club.
A sublime goal from the in-form Dele Alli was not enough to secure anything for Tottenham as a Marcus Rashford brace made sure of the points for United.
The defeat leaves Tottenham in eighth place, a point behind their hosts and nine points adrift of fourth-place Chelsea after 15 Premier League matches.
Mourinho opted to continue with a positive team away from, naming Alli, Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Son Heung-min all in the starting XI once again.
However, they were unable to establish control in midfield and were swarmed by United's press, which left the front four isolated.
Former United goalkeeper Schmeichel believes that, on reflection, Mourinho will regret the team he chose and that he should have started Ndombele in midfield.
"He will regret he lined up today," Schmeichel told Amazon Prime TV after the full-time whistle.
"We started thinking 'hey, this is so anti-Jose'. I expected him to come and park the bus and see what happened and then he puts offensive players, Moura, Son, Alli, Kane, even Sissoko, I'd put him in there.
"We thought, 'they're going to come here and attack' but they didn't. They were sitting back.
"I think that was the tactic and with how the second half unfolded with Ndombele, he did really well. I think he should have started with him."
