Peter Ramage handed new Newcastle United role as Dan Ashworth Academy revamp begins

Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth has started his Academy revamp by making a coaching switch for the Under-18 side.

Former United defender Peter Ramage led the Academy side last season in both the league and FA Youth Cup.

But the ex-Queens Park Rangers star has now moved on to the recruitment side of the club and will work with Shola Ameobi as assistant loan-coordinator.

Newcastle are set to appoint a new Under-18 coach and are advertising for the position with the role of Neil Winskill - currently head of development - still not clear after the former youth team player worked closely with Ramage last season.

Ramage confirmed his move by updating his social media bio. A post from Ramage read: "Delighted to begin a role as assistant player loan-coordinator at Newcastle United. I'm excited about the new role and continue to work tirelessly to help produce and develop talent for this wonderful football club."
