Peter Rabbit secret garden experience to open at Trafford Centre in time for summer holidays

A Peter Rabbit themed "secret garden" is taking shape inside the Trafford Centre as a new summer adventure experience for families.

Children will get the chance to explore a secret garden that will bring to life The World of Peter Rabbit™, where they will get to meet the official classic Peter Rabbit™ character created by Beatrix Potter.

The experience, which opens from July 22 through to August 30, is from the same team who brought the Peter Rabbit Christmas grotto to life at the centre three years ago.

Children will be welcomed by the character of Mrs. Rabbit, who needs some help decorating and filling her flower pots.

She explains that the adventurous Peter has run off to Mr. McGregor’s garden and asks who will be brave enough to sneak through grumpy Mr. McGregor’s garden?

It will lead to an interactive adventure through the garden, meeting characters like Squirrel Nutkin before Peter Rabbit is discovered in his woodland den.

In what is billed as "an enchanting experience" children will get to take part in activities such as flowerpot decorating and seed planting, as well as a Peter Rabbit costume character meet and greet for each family or group, which includes a professional photography opportunity within a woodland setting.

Children will receive a special treat, with merchandise and personalised photographs available to purchase at the end.

The experience is opening just in time for the school summer holidays and will run across summer at timed sessions every day and adhering to current social distancing guidelines.

Relaxed, inclusive sessions will run every Wednesday at 10am and 4.30pm, featuring smaller groups of visitors and quieter music.

Zoe Inman, centre director at The Trafford Centre, said: “The charming stories of Peter Rabbit are timeless and treasured by all generations, so we’re delighted to be bringing a new indoor summer experience that the whole family will enjoy.”

Thomas Merrington, creative director at Penguin Ventures (part of Penguin Random House) said: “We are thrilled to be partnering once again with The Trafford Centre to bring a new summer experience.

"Families will love exploring this new installation, especially as they’ll get to meet and greet the official Peter Rabbit costume character at the end.”

The Peter Rabbit™ Secret Garden will be on Upper Peel Avenue, next to the Main Dome.

Advance booking is highly recommended. Tickets are £10 for children and £12 for adults and are available to buy at https://traffordcentre.co.uk/whatson/peter-rabbit.
