Beatrix Potter's books are to be marketed to international audiences following the launch today of a multi-lingual website for Peter Rabbit.
Until yesterday the much-loved character had only been available online in English. Now French and German speakers can visit the website, PeterRabbit.com, and follow the tales of the mischievous rabbit. A Japanese-language site is planned for later in the year.
The site was designed by Kabel New Media in conjunction with Frederick Warne, a division of Penguin Books that publishes Beatrix Potter's books.
Max Crisfield, spokesman for Frederick Warne, said: "We want to offer a wealth of information for children, parents, grandparents, teachers, enthusiasts and anyone interested in the life and works of Beatrix Potter."
As well as an online biography of Beatrix Potter's life and art, a gift shop and some talking storybooks, the site features games, competitions, postcards and videoclips.
