Peter Moore shares heart-warming picture of Sean Cox after Liverpool's Champions League final success

Liverpool Chief Executive Peter Moore took time out from celebrating Liverpool's sixth European Cup success to share an image of recovering Reds fan Sean Cox.

Moore tweeted an image of Sean in a signed Liverpool shirt with the message: "Been some great photos tonight. This is the best ..."

Dad-of-three  Sean  was left with   horrific injuries and permanent disabilities   after being punched by AS Roma fan   Simone Mastrelli   outside   Anfield   last April.

The attack on April 24 last year, left the Irish   Reds fan       in a coma for six weeks   at   Walton Neurological Centre    before he was transported home to Co Meath in Ireland.

His attacker Mastrelli was jailed for three and a half years.

The injuries   Sean   suffered were truly catastrophic and life-altering meaning he can no longer walk or speak.

But after the Reds' incredible Champions League semi-final victory over Barcelona the 54-year-old was said to have been 'lifted' by the result.

His brother Martin said: "Sean watched the match on his iPad in hospital and he was absolutely thrilled with the result."

Sean watched last night's match and Martin added: "It is our goal for Sean to return to Anfield. We never made it to the match that night but we will again soon."
