Peter Moore's message to Liverpool fans running the risk of paying for fake tickets

Liverpool FC chief executive Peter Moore has urged supporters not to buy tickets from unofficial sources as the demand for seats at Anfield intensifies in the push for the Premier League title.

Liverpool have revealed that around 100 fake tickets are seized every home game with devastated fans left out of pocket and denied entry to the stadium.

Moore said: “We know tickets are in high demand as we approach the end of the season.

“We continue to work hard to try and eradicate tickets being touted and we want supporters to be aware of fraudulent tickets that are being sold to innocent fans.

“Our message is clear - please don’t buy tickets from unofficial sources.”

Liverpool have issued advice for supporters on how to identify forgeries.

Genuine tickets include a perforation line which has the official silver Liverbird hologram on it.

They also feature a Liverbird with ‘YNWA’ running across into the bottom left corner – you should be able to run your finger over the ticket and feel its indentation.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain takes major step towards Liverpool first-team return in behind closed doors friendly

Finally, on the back of the tickets there are two serial numbers – one on the perforated section and the other on the main ticket. These serial numbers should match.

All remaining home games are sold out. To guarantee genuine tickets, fans are advised to regularly check the club’s official website for returns.

Supporters who purchase tickets from unofficial sources are advised never to hand over personal documents such as passports or driving licenses in exchange for tickets or membership/season ticket cards.
