Peter Lawwell 'left shaken' as Celtic offer full support after house attack

Celtic insist Peter Lawwell will receive the full support of the club after his house and vehicles were attacked with a reported petrol bomb on Tuesday night.

News broke on Wednesday morning that the Celtic chief executive's home had been attacked and Celtic have now confirmed that the entire family had to leave the property.

They say they are all 'extremely shaken' but have confirmed that none were injured in the horrifying incident on Tuesday night.

Police Scotland is currently investigating the incident and Celtic offered their full backing to Lawwell and his family, who were taken to a safe location after the explosion.

The outgoing Celtic Park boss' house caught fire after the initial explosion with pictures showing the damage to the house.

A Celtic statement said: "We can confirm that significant damage has been caused to Peter Lawwell’s house and vehicles there, following an explosion and fire early this morning, forcing the family to leave the property.

"Clearly, Peter’s family are extremely shaken and shocked by these terrible events, but thankfully all are safe.

"We understand that Police Scotland are currently undertaking a criminal investigation.

"Peter and his family will of course receive the full support and care of everyone at the club."
