Peter Lawwell gets SPFL support after Celtic chief exec's home is subjected to 'horrific' attack

Peter Lawwell has received support from the Scottish Professional Football League after the sickening firebomb attack on his home.

The outgoing Celtic chief executive’s Thortonhall home was set ablaze after cars outside the property were set on fire.

Lawwell and his family fortunately were able to escape unharmed, but were reportedly left very shaken by the incident.

Emergency services were called to Peelhall Road at around 1am on Wednesday morning and images of the charred property emerged earlier on today.

Police have released a CCTV image of a man seen pouring what is thought to be a flammable liquid over the vehicles.

And now the league governing body, of which Lawwell has previously been a board member, have offered their support to the Celtic Park supremo.

A statement read: “It’s difficult for normal, civilised people to comprehend the mindset of those who would plan and execute such a horrific crime.

“The consequences for Peter and his family could have been far, far worse and our thoughts go out to them as they deal with the aftermath of this awful, premeditated attack.”
