Peter King says Redskins are his ‘favorite in the clubhouse’ to land Josh Rosen

It doesn’t matter how many people in the NFL media circles are chirping about a certain idea — when one of the big dogs says it, it means something.

Recently, Peter King with NBC Sports came out and said that he thinks the Washington Redskins are the most likely team to make a move for Arizona Cardinals’ QB Josh Rosen.

King notes the Cardinals’ likely choice to draft former Heisman-winning QB Kyler Murray will give them the opportunity to trade Rosen for picks in later rounds of the draft.

Here is an excerpt from King:

I doubt the Cardinals will have an offer of a 2019 top-50 pick for Rosen; so close to the draft, teams hate parting with high picks. Mike Lombardi, former front-office exec with several teams, told me the other day that first-round picks are like new cars—once you drive one off the lot and own it even for a short time, it’s not worth nearly what it was when you bought it. That’s why I think Washington could try to hold out and pay Arizona the 76th overall pick instead of the 46th.

Keep in mind that Washington’s my favorite in the clubhouse to deal for Josh Rosen if the Arizona QB is traded.

The New York Giants could also be a bidder for Rosen, as they look for a long-term replacement for Eli Manning. However, the Giants hold the No. 6 pick in the draft, and they will likely be in a better position to select a high-caliber QB that Washington will be at No. 15.

While both teams are going into the 2019 season with a stop-gap quarterback, they will be looking for an answer at the position that has them feeling positive about the future. Rosen could be that QB, it’ just a matter of who ends up landing him.
