Peter King includes Texans QB Deshaun Watson as one of his players of the week

In one of the “dog bites man” stories of Week 5, Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson was named an offensive player of the week.

According to Peter King from NBC Sports, the third-year signal caller from Clemson was part of five nominations that included Christian McCaffrey, Aaron Jones, Russell Wilson, and the Oakland Raiders offensive line.

Deshaun Watson, quarterback, Houston. Helped by the best game of wideout Will Fuller’s career (14 catches, 217 yards), Watson was flawless in the 53-32 rout of the surprisingly bad Falcons: 28 of 33 for 426 yards, five touchdowns and a perfect passer rating. The Texans are playing pretty well heading into Kansas City next week, and Watson is at the center of it all.

Not only was Watson perfect, but it was just the second time in his 28 games with the Texans he did not take a single sack. Staying upright and keeping clean seems to be a part of the formula. In the two games where Watson has not been sacked, the other being on Oct. 25, 2018, the Texans have scored 40-plus points.
