Peter King: Colts should address front seven in Round 1

The Indianapolis Colts will have plenty of choices to make at their disposal when they are on the clock for the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, which is creeping up quickly.

As the draft approaches, pundits and analysts across all networks will be giving their takes on what teams should do at the end of the month. Peter King of NBC Sports wrote in his Football Morning In America column that the Colts should target the front seven on Day 1.

26. Indianapolis: Best available front-seven player. Brian Burns still there? Good; he can learn from Justin Houston. Clelin Ferrell? Likely gone. Christian Wilkins? Excellent choice—a 315-pound space-eater who could free Darius Leonard to make even more plays in 2019.

While Wilkins is much more than a space eater, the Colts are likely to follow that blueprint. Adding depth to the defensive line is a must during the draft, and there is a possibility Indy uses their first-round pick to do so.

Of course, it all matters which prospects are on the board when the Colts are on the clock. That will dictate which position they will address or it could push them to trade back if the prospects available aren’t to their liking.

The Colts will have several options to choose from when they are on the clock given the depth of the defensive class in the draft, which means adding to the front seven is a scenario that could be among the likeliest to happen.
