Peter King: Bills overpaid for former Vikings WR Stefon Diggs

Peter King brought up the Stefon Diggs trade in his weekly column, and when he did so, he mentioned that Diggs cost more than DeAndre Hopkins.

Hopkins was traded along with a Texans’ fourth-round selection for Cardinals running back David Johnson, Arizona’s second-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft and fourth-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Diggs was traded with a seventh-round choice to the Bills for a first-round pick, fifth-round pick, sixth-round pick and a 2021 fourth-round pick.

Here’s what King had to say about the Diggs trade:

“Bills overpaid for Stefon Diggs. I like Diggs a lot, but he’s not the game-changer that Hopkins is, and Buffalo traded, in effect, a one, four and five for him. Pretty rich, I thought, particularly in a year when so many top receivers will be there for Buffalo, who entered the week picking 22, 54 and 86.”

The Diggs trade is a big blow to the wide receiver position right now, but it seemed like Diggs was unhappy, and if the Vikings get value out of those draft picks, it will be a decent trade.
