Peter Kay postpones comeback shows due to coronavirus saying ‘we’ll get through this together’

Bolton comic Peter Kay says his long-awaited comeback tour will be postponed due to the ongoing coronavirus epidemic.

The comedian’s Dance for Life shows are being postponed following government advice surrounding the spread of the coronavirus.

But lucky ticket-holders have been asked to keep their sought-after tickets as they will be valid for new dates, Mr Kay confirmed.

Mr Kay posted a message on Twitter to announce the news: “Obviously this is disappointing news but well and truly justified given the circumstances.

“We’ll get through this together then we’ll all have a great big dance for life.

“Stay safe and look after yourselves and the people around you.”

The Dance for Life tour was due to come to Liverpool, Manchester and London, raising money in aid of Cancer Research UK.

The shows marked a return to live venues for the comic as he toured the Dance for Life again. The three-hour dance-a-thon saw Mr Kay take to the stage this time as DJ PK, providing tunes all night long.

The shows in Manchester were scheduled for Easter weekend, coming to Manchester Central on April 10 and 11.

The event organisers added: "We are looking to reschedule the shows so please hold onto your tickets as they will be valid for new dates.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but the safety of the public is paramount."
