Peter Kay launches first live tour in three years after mysterious cancellation

Peter Kay is heading out on an incredible charity tour three years after mysteriously cancelling his own stand up shows.

The comedian's Dance For Life tour went on sale this morning.

The funnyman, 46, is due to put on eight shows in Manchester, Liverpool and London to raise funds for Cancer Research UK.

Peter's 2020 tour is described as "the dance-a-thon party that will change lives".

Venues will be turned into club nights, where crowds will take part in sponsored dance-a-thons to raise cash for the cause.

Peter will act as DJ and the shows will also feature his Car Share co-host Sian Gibson.

All profits will be going to the charity to help fund life-saving research into cancer.

Peter has done this tour before, taking it to 14 arenas back in 2016, selling 75,000 tickets.

Talking about bringing Dance For Life back, Peter told Bolton News : "I've honestly never had so much fun as I had working on Dance For Life.

"The atmosphere was so happy and positive, it really is a great way to raise money for the worthiest of causes. All people have to do is turn up and dance.

"I’d also like to encourage people to get themselves sponsored via JustGiving.com where a special Dance For Life team page has been set up."

The show is Peter's first tour since 2017.

He cancelled his last tour - a huge one of more than 100 dates - due to "unforeseen family circumstances".

Peter's last public appearance came in 2018 when he surprised the audience at a charity screening of Car Share.

The comic went out onto the stage to beg those in attendance to keep the ending of his show a secret.

A fan caught him on video asking people to keep what they were about to see to themselves, as it wouldn't be on TV for another month.

It was the first time Peter had emerged in the months since announcing the cancellation of his tour and saw fans beg him to go back out on the road.

And it seems they've finally got their wish.
