Peter Kay just had 'the time of his life' at Blackpool Pleasure Beach and fans are obsessed

Peter Kay was all of us as he enjoyed a day out in the sunshine at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.

The Bolton comic was all smiles as he visited the theme park on Thursday.

The 48-year-old dressed in a blue checked shirt and bucket hat as he posed for a picture, which has become a tradition for the comedian.

The outfit has been a reoccurring theme for Peter, who wore similar attire during visits to the seaside tourist attraction in 2015 and 2016.

Sharing joyous pictures of Peter's visits on their Facebook page, Blackpool Pleasure Beach said: "It was great to have Peter Kay join us yesterday and true to style he wore one of his Blackpool Pleasure Beach shirts!"

One of the photos showed a delighted Peter striking a pose with Wallace and Gromit.

"This is so northern," remarked one fan.

"Go on Peter!" cheered another.

And another fan said: "Tell me why I’m obsessed with this picture of Peter Kay having the time of his life with Wallace and Gromit at Blackpool Pleasure Beach."

Another fan who spotted the funnyman said: "Still can’t believe we kept bumping into him."

And another exclaimed: "I actually saw him!!! remember thinking, that bloke looks like Peter Kay lol."

"I would of paid treble just to get a glimpse of him. Absolute legend. Best entertainer of my lifetime," said another.

Another Facebook user replied: "I worked on/operated Wallace and Gromit in 2016 and Peter and family were so polite.

"He came across as very quiet (definitely not like his stage persona) but I remember he told us his funfair dismissal joke.

"His kids were really nice as well. He loves BPB."

In 2000 Peter's Live at the Top of the Tower show at Blackpool Tower cemented his status as one of Britain's comedy greats.

Earlier this month he returned for two sell-out shows at the Manchester Apollo and fans hoped this marked the comeback of a 'true comedy genius.'

After being away from the stage for almost four years he performed in aid of Laura Nuttall, 21, from Pendle in Lancashire, who is battling Glioblastoma, a grade four brain cancer.

Peter admitted to the audience that he was nervous but said taking to the stage again was 'like getting in a hot bath' as fans welcomed him back with open arms.

Peter emerged on the stand-up comedy scene in the late nineties and shot to fame with the sitcom Phoenix Nights in the early noughties.

At the Q&As Peter gave fans of both Max and Paddy's Road To Nowhere and Car Share hope that these popular shows might return.

He said Car Share, about the blossoming romance of supermarket assistant manager John Redmond and promotions rep Kayleigh Kitson, may return for a Christmas special.

Peter, 48, said: "Of all the things I’ve ever done, that’s my favourite of all. I love being with Sian (Gibson) and we had a good laugh.”

And he said he had written two episodes of Max and Paddy that he may choose to make now.

He told how he loved filming the Phoenix Nights spin-off adding: "It was one of the best times."
