Peter Kay fans loved seeing comedian in ITV footage tonight

Peter Kay fans were overjoyed to see the comedian in archive footage on ITV tonight.

The Bolton-born funnyman appeared alongside Paddy McGuinness on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire.

The pair famously featured on the show in 2008 taking part in a celebrity special of the game.

Peter and Paddy sailed through the first six questions, easily reaching the £20,000 mark.

Choosing to play the £50k question, they were asked: 'What name is Beethoven's Symphony Number Six in F Major popularly known?'

After using their last lifeline, the pair had to choose between the answers Moonlight and Pastoral.

Guessing the wrong answer of Moonlight, Peter and Paddy lost £19,000.

Showing footage of that moment on tonight's Who Wants To Be A Millionaire: The Million Pound Question, fans were delighted to see the pair back on their screens - albeit archive footage.

Thomas tweeted: "Paddy and Peter Kay", followed by cry-laughter emojis.

And a fourth tweeted: "How funny is Peter Kay."
