The popular guessing game The Masked Singer had fans scratching their heads again on Saturday night, but for a different reason (January 7). As a new batch of stars in disguise took to the stage to showcase their singing talents, viewers watching at home and the celeb panel tried to work out who they are.
But there was more confusion in the second episode of the 2023 series, presented by Joel Dommett, as the colourful character Piece of Cake was introduced - and people were reeling as they misheard it as "Peter Kay." @EmmaVelmaMorris said on Twitter: "Piece a cake sounds like Peter Kay to me!!"
@LorraineHT tweeted: "Keep thinking they are saying Peter Kay not piece of cake." @MattOakleyMojo puzzled: "Thought they said Peter Kay for a second. #pieceofcake." And @ricardoautobahn also thought Joel was referencing Bolton comedian Peter, asking: "Did you say Piece of Cake or Peter Kay?"

Later it turned out that the sweet character was the second of the series to be eliminated after singing Ed Sheeran's hit Shivers. Panelists Davina McCall, Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan were stunned when cake turned out to be legendary singer Lulu.
"I'm slightly in shock," she told Joel after being unmasked. And, with a blast of her classic hit Shout, she explained about why she had taken part in the celeb singing contest, saying: "My grandchildren love this show. This is why I'm here, it's such a fun show."
In the first episode on New Year's Day there was a heartwarming moment as Ghost was revealed as the recently honoured football legend Chris Kamara. The much-loved former footballer and pundit been inundated with support following the release of his documentary which shone a light on his battle with a speech disorder.
Chris, best known as Kammy, first spoke out about his Apraxia diagnosis back in March after fans messaged him to ask if he was okay as he appeared on the weekly show Soccer Saturday. During his ITV documentary, Lost For Words, which aired on December 14 Kammy discussed the moment he started getting tweets about his slow and slurred speech.
