Peter Kay blasts Channel 5 documentary as 'misleading'

Peter Kay has broken his social media silence to slam a Channel 5 documentary about his life.

The two-hour long documentary, named Peter Kay Comedy Genius: In His Own Words, follows the Bolton comedian as he rises to the top of the comedy circuit.

According to Mirror Online, it features a number of interviews with the comedian and his friends and is scheduled to air tonight (December 29).

However, a statement released on Peter Kay's official Twitter blasted the documentary and described the title as "misleading".

The statement reads: "Very flattering of Channel 5 to commission the programme going out tonight, but just to let people known that 'Peter Kay: In His Own Words' has an incredibly misleading title, as it doesn't feature any new interviews with Peter and all the footage is completely historic.

"The title also gives the impression that Peter has been involved in the making of this documentary, which he hasn't. At all."

Back in December 2017, Peter cancelled all of his upcoming work commitments due to "unforseen family circumstances".

A Channel 5 spokesperson declined to comment when contacted by Mirror Online.
