Peter Kay announces more Newcastle gigs in 2025 as next year's Utilita Arena show already sold out

Peter Kay has announced another two Newcastle shows in 2025 just hours after tickets went on sale for his return to the stage in 2023.

Extra dates for the Bolton comedian's comeback tour launched on Thursday in Newcastle, Manchester, Birmingham, Leeds, Glasgow and Sheffield and were snapped up quickly, with some reporting joining an online queue of more than 60,000 people. And fans who are willing to plan almost three years in advance will have to act quickly once again, as one of the two September 2025 gigs is already showing as low availability on Ticketmaster at the time of writing.

Kay's "Better Late Than Never Tour" is his first in 12 years and two dates in March 2023 sold out almost immediately when they went on sale in November. There are a handful of tickets left through Ticketmaster for his January 30 2023 date, but they are priced at more than £500 at the time of writing.

There was delight on social media this morning as some got their hands on tickets they missed out on the first time round. One user shared a screenshot of his booking, captioned: "Peter Kay tickets sorted for Newcastle in January, get in!

Another, Emma O'Dwyer, wrote: "Peter Kay tickets bagged for Newcastle 30 Jan woop woop. So easy compared to the farce few weeks ago. Thanks for the extra date @peterkay_co_uk, can’t wait."

A third wrote: "So so lucky to have got 2 tickets for my mum and her friend for Peter Kay in Newcastle. Mums friend’s on chemo & really needed this pick me up! #PeterKay @peterkay_co_uk."

However, not everyone was so lucky. Dan Pye joined an online queue at 9.40am this morning and was eventually "let in" to buy tickets at 10am. A total of 17,000 people were ahead of him in the queue, and by the time it was his turn there were none left.

And Kirsty Bramley said she had "given up" on Twitter, after finally getting to the front of the queue only to see tickets left at more than £500.

Kay's return to stand-up comedy on Friday December 3 delighted fans at Manchester's AO Arena, with the Manchester Evening News giving it a five star review. Speaking to BBC Radio 2 following the announcement of the comeback tour in November, he said he was struggling to get his head around the public's "unbelievable" reaction and said: "Bad times, that's why people need a laugh."

Peter Kay will now play five dates in Newcastle - January 30 2023, March 9 and 10 2023, and September 5 and 6 2025. All dates will be at the Utilita Arena, with tickets are still on sale at Ticketmaster.
