Peter Hook is streaming a marathon Joy Division tribute gig next week

Peter Hook is streaming a mammoth three hour-long gig next week, in which he performs every single Joy Division song.

The concert, which originally took place in 2015, will mark the 40th anniversary of Ian Curtis's tragic death.

The So This Is Permanent film will be free to watch, but Hook is encouraging people to donate to The Epilepsy Society.

Curtis, who was the frontman of Joy Division, had epilepsy. He took his own life aged just 23.

Former bandmate Peter Hook performed the full back catalogue with his band The Light at the one-off concert, along with appearances from Rowetta.

It all took place at Christ Church in Curtis's hometown of Macclesfield.

Only 500 tickets were released for that exclusive performance five years ago, selling out in less than 20 seconds.

This will be the first time footage from the night has been available for music fans across the globe, streaming on Joy Division's Facebook and YouTube channels, and the Facebook page of The Light.

Peter Hook said: "The idea of coming back to Macclesfield, Ian’s home town and to the church Ian attended as a child as well as in his youth was wonderful.

"I wanted to do something different, something unique. I love playing our songs and what better opportunity could there be than to play every song Joy Division song ever wrote and recorded.

"They thought I was mad. I thought I was mad but we pulled it off.

"We played every song in one go.

"It was so emotional. I was so proud. I did it for Ian."

The stream will go live at midday on Monday May 18, and will be available for 24 hours.
