Peter Grant will stand down as Alloa boss at the end of the season after the Wasps were relegated from the Championship.
A statement from Recreation Park confirmed the 55-year-old would be leaving at the end of his contract after the club’s three-year stay in the second tier comes to an end.
The former Celtic midfielder was loosely linked with a return to Parkhead in the summer as part of a potential backroom team should Eddie Howe replace Neil Lennon.
Grant was assistant boss at Bournemouth while Howe was still playing almost two decades ago.
He has coaching experience at the top level in England with Fulham and West Ham as well as having managed Norwich City.
Alloa chairman Mike Mulraney said “The commitment and professionalism that Peter has brought to Alloa has been a credit to him, we could not have asked for more.
“Obviously results this season has been disappointing, however it is with sadness we see Peter leave the club. I do however respect his decision and wish him the very best in all his future endeavours”.
