Peter Grant in defiant Dunfermline message as under-fire boss insists 'I won't be quitting' but acknowledges sack could come

Peter Grant insists there's no way he'll walk away from Dunfermline, though he acknowledged that decision could be taken out of his hands.

The Pars were beaten 1-0 by Queen of the South at Palmerston to make it eight games without a win.

Dunfermline are rooted to the bottom of the Championship and furious travelling supporters had to be held back by stewards at the end.

But while Grant acknowledges the situation is grim, the former Celtic player and coach will not be resigning.

Asked about his future he insisted: "You’re asking the wrong person.

“Put it this way, I can tell you: I won’t be quitting. I know what my job is and I know what’s expected of me.

“That’s somebody else’s decision and, if that happens then I’ve had nothing but support.

“I would understand 100 per cent if I’m not the manager. No problem. I know the consequences of not winning football matches and the run we are on.

“But I can say that I’ve given everything to do this right.”

The Pars boss was subjected to boos and jeers as he left the pitch, and Grant didn't expect anything less.

He said: "I’d expect that if you don’t win games of football. I’ve said that from day one.

"The first half, in particular, was as poor a game as I’ve ever been involved with.

“I wouldn’t like to have paid money to watch it so I know how the supporters must have felt watching it.

“It was a poor game and a poor day all round. It was very difficult to watch a team representing me and the club, playing the way did.”
