Peter Crouch underlines why Harry Kane will relish the arrival of Jose Mourinho at Tottenham

Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Peter Crouch has insisted that Harry Kane does not need to leave the club to win trophies and has drawn comparisons to Frank Lampard.

The Spurs striker is renowned as one of the best strikers in the world and would debatably make his way into every team in the world.

With that in mind, many in the media have questioned whether the England captain must leave Tottenham in the pursuit of silverware.

Spurs enjoyed five fantastic years under Mauricio Pochettino but failed to lift a single trophy during his tenure.

The appointment of Jose Mourinho, however, has raised hopes that the club can claim silverware on a more consistent basis.

The Portuguese coach has won 25 trophies across his glittering managerial career, including three Premier League title with Chelsea.

Crouch believes that following Mourinho's arrival, Kane will not need to leave the club in search of silverware and has drawn comparisons to Lampard's career, before Mourinho joined Chelsea.

"Whoever came in, Harry Kane is starting, he's integral to this Tottenham team. He's the captain, he's the leader, he's been there since he was a kid," Crouch told BT Sport Early Kick-Off.

"People said he needs to move on to win trophies but he's got a manager now who has won trophies. When he went in at Chelsea, Jose Mourinho, Frank Lampard was 26.

"Harry Kane is 26 and look what Frank Lampard has won. Hopefully, this will be the turning points for Harry Kane as well."
