Peter Crouch believes that Frank Lampard's decision to drop Kepa Arrizabalaga is the right one, as the goalkeeper "hasn't been at it".
The Spaniard was replaced by Willy Caballero for the Blues' clash away at Leicester City on Saturday.
It's the first time that the Spaniard hasn't started a Premier League match under Lampard, with the head coach opting for a change between the sticks after some high-profile errors from the club's record transfer.
With fourth facing third, Lampard couldn't be accused of making the safe choice in goal but in the eyes of former Tottenham striker Crouch, the Chelsea boss has sent a warning message to all his players by making "the right decision".
"I think it's a big, big decision but I think managers live and die by these decisions," Crouch told BT Sport ahead of kick-off at the King Power Stadium.
"I think it's a brave one but he hasn't been up to it in recent weeks.
"You look at some of his mistakes and he hasn't been commanding. Willy Caballero has a lot of experience and he will come and step in.
"If you think of the people upstairs who have bought him for a lot of money, it's a brave decision from Frank (Lampard) but I think it's the right one.
"I think it shows to the whole team, it doesn't matter who you are, if you're not doing it, you're going to be out of the side.
"That will keep the whole squad on their toes.
"That's why, although it's a big call, I think it's the right call for the side, it will keep everyone at it and on their toes."
