Peter Crouch rates Mateusz Klich strike and the 'mistake' that helped Leeds United

Peter Crouch hailed Leeds United goalscorer Mateusz Klich for spotting a rare mistake in the Burnley defence and taking full advantage with a 'wonderful' finish.

In a Premier League clash of few clear-cut chances, the Poland midfielder earned his side a 1-0 lead at the half-time break by curling home his fourth of the season.

Crouch, a pundit on BT Sport, insists Leeds were the better side in the opening 45 minutes.

And the Whites were suitably rewarded in the run up to half-time when Klich curled his strike around two Burnley defenders, having been afforded time and space by James Tarkowski - who refused to engage with his opponent.

Victory for Leeds in this Premier League contest means they would finish the weekend in ninth position.

Tenth-placed Aston Villa travel to Crystal Palace tomorrow afternoon (12pm), but as things stand they remain four points shy of Marcelo Bielsa's side.

Crouch said: "You felt that Burnley would hold out. Defensively they are very, very good. It was the first time really that their midfield was taken out. They went out wide and [James] Tarkowski usually has that protection in front of him. He didn't want to engage and it was too late.

"Klich produced a fantastic finish. It was a wonderful goal. It helps with the defenders there and he could just guide it around them. We were right in line with it and it was a beautiful finish. It did [look effortless]."

Crouch added: "You have to say it [Leeds deserved their goal]. I think Leeds have been the better side - other than Burnley starting well. Leeds have been more dominant and fully deserve the one-goal lead."
