Former Tottenham Hotspur striker Peter Crouch doesn't believe that Spurs would be any better off in comparison to Liverpool and Manchester City even if they had Harry Kane and Son Heung-min fit.
The duo, who have scored a combined total of 33 goals between them in all competitions this season, missed Spurs' 1-0 UEFA Champions League last-16 first-leg defeat to RB Leipzig on Wednesday evening due to injury.
Their absences were more than noticeable as Jose Mourinho's side struggled to offer much in terms of an attacking threat.
But even if they were both available, fit and firing, Crouch is still confident that Tottenham would still be a long way off from matching the levels of Liverpool and City, both of whom currently occupy the top two places in the Premier League this season.
"They were miles off that when Kane and Son were fit, to be honest," Crouch told BT Sport.
"They were miles off Liverpool and City.
"Them being out it makes it even worse.
"But I think Ndombele and Lamela were pluses when they came on. Hopefully with the 20 minutes, half hour they got into them will make them fresher for the weekend.
"I don't think it is all doom and gloom. I think [Jose] Mourinho is getting in the fact that he is not happy with his squad and is struggling at the moment.
"But it is not all doom and gloom, I think they can have a real go at Chelsea at the weekend."
