Peter Crouch on cusp of Champions League revenge for Liverpool over Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale

Former Liverpool striker Peter Crouch is on the cusp of winning an historic Champions League poll.

The vote was put to fans yesterday and is set to decide the best acrobatic goal in the competition.

The Burnley forward leads the way over fellow candidates Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Mario Mandzukic with 52% of votes.

Crouch's super strike in front of the Kop against Galatasaray is the oldest goal on the list coming in 2006 when Liverpool were en route to the Athens final.

Ronaldo is the former England international's closest rival for the poll win on 27%.

The world famous No.7 scored a sensational overhead kick for Real Madrid in last season's quarter-final against his now team, Juventus.

Liverpool legend Luis Garcia came to his former team-mate's aid by encouraging his followers to vote for the Premier League forward.

The poll has received more than 100,000 votes and will close on Thursday afternoon.
