Peter Crouch has opened up on how a number of Tottenham’s players have been 'uncomfortable' with what has been going at the club.
After a poor start to the campaign, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy took the decision to relieve boss Mauricio Pochettino of his duties on Tuesday night, after five and a half seasons at the club.
Jose Mourinho has since been appointed as the Argentine’s successor, with the Portuguese tasked with turning the club’s season around.
And Crouch believes there were clear issues between Pochettino and his players - as well as questioning how Levy and Mourinho are going to work together.
“There was an issue,” Crouch told the Mail’s Pint with Piers on Wednesday night.
“You look at the players at the start of the season, three or four big players wanting to leave. Why is that? Did they fall out with the manager?
“There were rumours about him watching training from upstairs and not coming out. I know some players in that dressing room were uncomfortable with what was going on.
“I have to say how cut-throat Daniel Levy can be. Buying young players with resale value. As soon as you hit 30, and I know this from experience, I was out (signing for Stoke in 2011).
“There was no resale value. But Mourinho, the way he works, he likes 30-plus players. He doesn't mind age. If they're good enough, they're in.
“How are they (he and Levy) going to get on?”
