Peter Crouch lands brand new reality TV show to save failing football club

Peter Crouch has had two hugely successful shows on primetime BBC One.

And now the former footballer and his wife Abbey Clancy will be heading a new documentary series on Discovery, which will follow the couple's attempt to help save an ailing football club.

The show - called Save Our Beautiful Game - will be an eight-part series that will see Peter try and help save a failing football club as he investigates the effect the coronavirus pandemic has had on grassroots football.

He will also appear at his luxurious Surrey home, where he will sit down and discuss with wife Abbey on how best he can help the club to turn things around and make it a huge success.

"Peter jumped at the chance to get on board with this series and can’t wait for everyone to see it. In the show Peter will be seen using his skills as a newly qualified coach to help a struggling non-league team reach the top," a source told The Sun.

"As well as using his coaching skills, he will be thinking outside the box in a bid to get fans coming through the doors."

The series - which will air on DiscoveryUK later this year - has been described as incredibly "heart-warming".

The source added: "He'll also be seen at home with Abbey, who will give her own take on what Peter could do to make it a success."

"It’s a really heart-warming series which will show Peter in a light never before seen by his fans."

Discovery’s Head Of Content, Factual and Sport, Simon Downing, commented: "We’re beyond thrilled to welcome Save Our Beautiful Game to discovery+."

Peter is currently hosting his Year Late Euros show alongside Maya Jama and Alex Horne (Fulwell 73 / Kieron Mccarron)

"The series takes us through an important narrative of community-loved grassroots sports interwoven with heart-lifting scenes of Peter’s homecoming to support local teams. It’s a fantastic story that will undoubtedly resonate with Discovery’s passionate sports fans."

Rick Murray, managing director of production company Workerbee, added: "Peter is passionate about supporting grassroots level football and with his knowledge, boundless energy and charisma is throwing himself into the task."

"This series will be insightful, entertaining and hopefully a huge force for good for local football clubs and their communities. We are thrilled to be making it."
