Peter Crouch insists Mohamed Salah will be 'fuming' with Liverpool's mauling of Everton

Peter Crouch believes Liverpool's Merseyside derby mauling will not have gone down well with Mohamed Salah.

Salah was given a rare night off as Jurgen Klopp's men swept aside hapless Everton at Anfield.

Klopp dropped the Egyptian and Roberto Firmino to the bench as Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri were handed starts.

Origi scored twice while Shaqiri also found the net in the 5-2 win, which saw Liverpool continue their unbeaten start to the season.

But former England striker Crouch thinks Salah will have wanted to be involved in the action.

"I think he will be fuming to be on the bench," Crouch said on Amazon Prime.

"He will want to be part of that team. He has aspirations for the Golden Boot, we know what he is like.

"He has gone from a winger to a selfish striker. He won't be sat on the bench enjoying that performance.

"He will have been sat there thinking he could have got two or three goals.

"If there is one man who is probably walking away not so pleased, it is probably him.

"I remember when England were playing Andorra and I was like 'get me on that pitch'."

On the absence of Salah, fellow pundit Thierry Henry added: "It is about a team. People were saying they didn't buy anyone but he trusted the team he had.

"The guys know exactly what he wants from them.

"Salah must not be happy but he is a winner and winners want to play every game."
