Peter Crouch in pain as wife Abbey Clancy pierces his eyebrow on Save Our Summer

Here's football ace Peter Crouch getting a point the hard way…

The 39-year-old former player allowed wife Abbey Clancy to pierce his eyebrow on BBC1 show Save Our Summer.

As he braces himself for the pain, Peter says: “This is where you think, ‘How have I got into this situation?’ What I’m holding on to is the fact I’m going to look so cool.”

Luckily, Abbey, 34, is a trained piercer and the stud goes in easily.

The scene is the latest of Crouch’s Extreme Retirement Challenges where he tries things he could not as a player.

Peter is joined by radio presenter Maya Jama and comedian Alex Horne to give self-isolating viewers access to all the things we’re so sorely missing – live music, laughs, sports action and much more.

"It’ll put a smile on people’s faces,’ says Peter about his new show.

‘Everything has been cancelled – music festivals, sports events and so on, but we’re going to bring a little bit of them all to this Saturday night show.

‘We’ll have an amazing studio guest each episode, plus tunes from top bands and artists performing in their garden.

"There’ll also be sportsmen competing against each other, bringing to life postponed events like Wimbledon, the Olympics and Euro 2020.’

The 6ft 7in former Liverpool star has used his bulging celebrity contacts book to put together some filmed segments of him catching up with his old team-mates.

‘They’re sort of extreme retirement videos of me trying not to kill myself,’ Peter laughs.

‘It’s all the stuff we couldn’t do when we were still playing football – jumping out of a plane with Jermaine Jenas was an experience, I can tell you!’
