Peter Crouch identifies difference Jordan Henderson has made to Liverpool style

Peter Crouch says Jordan Henderson has added a progressive passing style to his game.

The Liverpool captain has been a key to the club's recent success, excelling under the leadership of manager Jurgen Klopp.

This season has seen him form a strong partnership with Gini Wijnaldum, with the duo playing key roles in the middle of the park whilst the Reds have battled injuries to key players.

Henderson himself missed a portion of this season through injury, which saw the Reds suffer a shock defeat to Atalanta in the Champions League.

Former Reds striker Crouch is a big fan of the pair's partnership and identified Henderson's improved range of passing as a key reason for his success on Anfield - pointing to the Reds' performances without Henderson as an example of how important he is.

Speaking on Amazon, Crouch also said he was impressed with how Wijnaldum is able to adapt his game to suit a different role with the Reds to the one he plays when representing the Netherlands.

Crouch said: "It’s such a good partnership. They’re the mainstays of the team.

"I think when Henderson was out recently, you could see the difference, I don’t think they played the same way.

"Early on in his Liverpool career, he was criticised for his range of passing - but I think he’s added the progressive passes to his game.

"When Wijnaldum plays for Holland, he plays as a 10, he gets lots of goals, but he’s so adaptable, he’s defensive-minded when he plays for Liverpool. He’s got so much quality as well on the ball."
