Peter Crouch becomes latest pundit to question Gareth Southgate's big Leeds United omission

Former England striker Peter Crouch has backed Jack Harrison to force his way into the England conversation ahead of the European Championships.

Harrison scored and contributed two assists for Leeds in the 4-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor, pushing the Whites back into the top-half of the Premier League table.

The Manchester City loanee has excelled at Elland Road this season, his third temporary stint with the club, with eight goals and eight assists in the top-flight.

Harrison is now expected to move to West Yorkshire on a permanent basis this summer and Crouch believes he has done enough to be under consideration for Gareth Southgate's England squad.

“I don’t see why not. Every time I watch him, I’ve watched them a bit this season, and every time I’ve watched him he has an impact,” he told BT Sport.

“He was the best player on the pitch today. Every time he got the ball he was running at them and he does his defensive work very well. He has to be in with a shout.

“I wouldn’t disagree that he’s a top-four player. Whenever I watch Leeds, he’s an integral part of what they do. He’s fantastic on the counter attack and he’s got legs.

“He’s got a good combination down that left-side with Alioski, I think he joins in really well, he’s been a fantastic for them this season.”

Capped twice at U21 level for England, Harrison is yet to make his bow at first-team level for the Three Lions but has seen one of his teammates force their way into the frame.

Kalvin Phillips has caught the eye at international level for England, while Patrick Bamford is also on the cusp of a breakthrough.

Luke Ayling was also mentioned in dispatches by Southgate back in March but a call-up was not forthcoming.
