Former Liverpool stars Peter Crouch and Steve McManaman have heaped praise on reported Arsenal and Chelsea transfer target Darwin Nunez.
The Uruguayan international, who is said to be valued at £66million, has enjoyed a stellar campaign with Portuguese giants Benfica this season, finding the back of the net on 29 occasions across all competitions this term. This form hasn't gone unnoticed either, with the likes of Arsenal and Chelsea both linked in recent times.
According to The Athletic, the Blues, along with both Manchester United and Ligue 1 outfit Paris Saint-Germain are 'leading the race' for Nunez ahead of the summer window. Meanwhile, football.london previously reported that the Gunners are keen on the 22-year-old.

Now, former Liverpool striker Crouch has admitted that he's the type of player plenty of top clubs across Europe will be desperate to sign. Speaking on BT Sport, he said: "He certainly is the one to watch in this side, Rafa Silva will be a huge miss because he creates so much for Darwin Nunez, but there has been big noises about him for a while and he has delivered.
"He has got 31 goals this season and he’s banging them in. He’s big, he’s strong, but he is also quick and mobile and he has scored a lot of big goals against some big teams in the Champions League so I think, the question always is if you score a lot of goals in Portugal, can you replicate it elsewhere and he has against the big teams in the Champions League."
McManaman also weighed in, claiming that Nunez is likely to leave The Eagles at the end of the current campaign. The former England international added: "Yeah, I think he will move on, no disrespect to the Portuguese league and Benfica, but they will probably look to sell him, and there are only a number of clubs that can probably pay the asking price for him, and he may even turn up in the Premier League.
"He’s almost a rough diamond, there is still a lot to work on and a lot to improve on, but his movement is excellent and his goal against Liverpool was a really composed finish. There is a lot to like about him but he is nowhere near the finished article yet."
