Peter Crouch and Alan Shearer identify the Liverpool youngster that impressed them vs Everton

Peter Crouch has heaped praise on Liverpool youngster Neco Williams after his display in the 1-0 win over Everton in the FA Cup.

The 18-year-old started at right-back for the Reds as Jurgen Klopp rang out the changes for the third-round cup clash at Anfield.

Williams was one of nine changes to the team that beat Sheffield United in the Premier League on Thursday, with James Milner and Joe Gomez the only survivors from that side.

However, it was the Welshman that caught the eye most of Crouch and Alan Shearer, who were impressed by his crossing ability and his link-up with Harvey Elliott.

"I thought, for me, his delivery, his energy, it might take him some time to get in the first team (because of Alexander-Arnold)," Crouch told the BBC.

"You can see here the pressing, in at Everton and then the recovery and what about this for a cross. He put two or three like that in the box and Minamino isn't that type of player."

"If you know those balls are coming in and the quality is good, you will get people in the box."

Shearer added: "They've had a good understanding down that right-hand side, him and Elliott. A few lovely balls whipped in. Harvey Elliott has also had a few neat touches but he's looked comfortable, has Williams, both defensive and offensively."
