Peter Crouch and Abbey Clancy film BBC travel show - after backlash over Dubai holiday

Peter Couch and Abbey Clancey are working on a brand new travel show for the BBC, it has been reported.

The pair have already filmed the pilot for 6 Foot 7 wonders of the World - a nod to the former footballer's stature - and it's hoped a full series will follow, where the couple will be filmed exploring a series of exotic locations.

The news comes months after the pair were slammed by fans for 'bragging' about travelling abroad during the pandemic.

Former England striker Peter and model Abbey headed off on a family holiday to Dubai last year, while many of their fans were facing tough Tier 4 restrictions from the covid pandemic.

Abbey, 34, shared a slew of snaps to Instagram showing her clan having a fabulous time in the UAE sunshine in December.

"Feel so lucky to have had such a wonderful Christmas with my family and friends," gushed the mum.

One photo showed Pete throwing his head back and roaring with laughter as he posed on the beach with their youngest son Jack.

Another picture showed the couple's daughter Sophie, sipping an orange juice from a first-class plane seat.

However, fans failed to see the funny side and branded the couple 'disappointing' and 'out of touch.'

Abbey later backtracked and hit the delete button on her holiday montage.

TV insiders first revealed that Abbey and Pete were filming a BBC travel show that would be both 'funny and relatable' last year.

An source told The Sun: "Peter’s the sort of bloke everyone finds funny and relatable, and it’s obvious he and Abbey have a dynamic which will make for good viewing."

The source claimed the couple, who have been married for nine years, were filmed travelling to Finland together.

It was also claimed Pete was also working on several TV projects after impressing bosses with his 'everyman persona.'

Last year, he joined forces with Maya Jama and Alex Horne to front Saturday night series Save Our Summer.
