Peter Bosz buzzes over Rangers atmosphere as Lyon boss predicts 'special' Europa League night

Lyon boss Peter Bosz admits he can't wait for a "special" night at a packed Ibrox.

The 57-year-old brings his Ligue 1 giants to Glasgow this week for a hotly-anticipated Europa League group stage opener against Rangers.

Steven Gerrard 's side have enjoyed the backing of supporters throughout qualifying but haven't played in front of a full house in the tournament proper since facing Bayer Leverkusen in the last 16 in March 2020.

And Bosz expects an "added dimension" come kick-off on Thursday.

He told Uefa.com: "I think we are all looking forward to seeing the fans come back to the stadium. In my experience, European Cup nights always have an added dimension.

"We're all used to playing in a full stadium, but these European nights are always a little more special."

Lyon warmed up for Rangers on Sunday night by beating Strasbourg 3-1 at home in the league.

Former Celtic stars Jason Denayer and Moussa Dembele were on target for Bosz' side but he wasn't entirely pleased by his team's display.

He said: “The first half, I was not happy, we lost too many easy balls. Strasbourg was better than us.

"We played better in the second half, with fewer touches of balls and things were going much faster.

"Before playing Paris, there is an important game on Thursday, we focus first on Rangers."
