Fears are growing for the safety of a 79-year-old man suffering from dementia who went missing in north London two days ago.

Peter Bennett, from Wood Green, Haringey, was last seen on Saturday leaving his address but has not returned.

Mr Bennett, who at the time of his disappearance was wearing a yellow and black striped shirt and a dark grey jacket, is said to have left his home without any of his personal belongings. He suffers from dementia and other underlying health conditions.

Detective Inspector Paul Ridley from North Area CID said: “Peter has been missing for two days and we urgently need to locate him.

“He may be in a confused state and weather conditions have been bitterly cold overnight therefore increasing the risk.”

Temperatures are expected to drop to as low as 2C this week, according to weather.com.

Although officers have been conducting street searches, the force “really” needs the public to come forward with sightings of Peter, Inspector Ridley added.

Anyone who may be able to assist is asked to call police on 101 quoting reference: 21MIS010616.
