Peter Andre set to disappoint daughter Princess as he rules out puppy birthday gift

Peter Andre is prepared to disappoint daughter Princess on her birthday tomorrow (June 29), but all for a good reason.

The dad-of-four, 49, is refusing to succumb to his eldest daughter's wishes and buy her a dog for her 15th birthday on Wednesday as he's not sure she understands the commitment involved with owning a pet.

Peter - who shares Princess and her brother Junior Andre with ex-wife Katie Price - has admitted it "wouldn't be fair" on any pet pooch they welcomed into their home due to how often he and his family are out of the house.

Princess has previously received pets as presents before, famously welcoming pup Rolo into her home with mum Katie on her 13th birthday, but sadly the French bulldog died instantly after he got caught up in the mechanism of an armchair a few weeks after joining the family in 2020.

Writing in his weekly column for new! magazine, Peter explained how "like every year" Princess is desperate for a dog, but he has had to explain to her again how it is "not just a six-month commitment".

"Understandably, she is getting to the age where she wants to do her own thing and hang out with her friends, and so she should," the singer wrote ahead of his daughter turning 15.

"And with me and Emily at work and the kids at school it just doesn't seem fair on the dog."

In addition to Junior and Princess, the reality TV star shares children Millie, eight, and Theo, five with his wife, NHS doctor Emily Andre.

While Princess doesn't look likely to receive a canine companion later this week, dad Peter did offer his teenage daughter a smidgen of hope when he wrote about the possibility of being persuaded otherwise in the future.

"I might change my mind in six months, but now doesn't seem the right time for a dog, so I'm getting her some clothes she likes instead," he wrote in his latest update.

Earlier this month Peter used his regular weekly column to heavily hint about a return to reality TV, and confirm that his children would be financially compensated should they appear on screen.

While Junior and Princess have appeared in TV shows and photoshoots since the day they were born - with both teenagers having public Instagram accounts - Peter and Emily have always protected the identity of Millie and Theo, covering their faces with emojis when sharing snaps online.

It's not known whether Millie and Theo will be making an appearance in any future TV projects.

"The kids seem really excited about the idea. It’s a discussion we’ve had and a nice way for them to earn a little extra pocket money they could save for later," Peter mused at the start of June.

"Obviously, I’ve been saving money for them over the years, but it will be good for them to earn something themselves."
