Peter Andre says parents should be able to choose if their child gets Covid jab

Peter Andre says he believes that parents should be able to choose whether their child will get the Covid jab or not.

The reality star, 48, strongly disagrees with the recent Government announcement that 12 to 15-year-olds will be offered their first dose of the vaccine - and can overrule their parents and get their dose if they wish.

The doting dad-of-four expressed his opinion in his latest New magazine column, telling fans that parents should be able to choose what happens to their child until they are 18.

"I don't agree with it," he wrote. "I think it should be a parent's choice what happens to their child until they are 18.

"Children aren't allowed to make their own decisions about anything else but they can about this one thing?"

He added: "Junior is 16 and I'd be willing to ask him if he wants to have the vaccine but we'd need to do our research before a decision is made."

In recent weeks, Peter made the headlines as he revealed he is keen to have more grandchildren rather than kids as he opened up about potentially having another child.

Speaking on Loose Women, he addressed Junior's concerns about having another sibling as there would be too big an age gap.

Peter, who has been married to Emily MacDonagh since 2015, revealed that he had told his son about his late brother Andrew, who tragically died in December 2012 after suffering from kidney cancer for ten months.

He said that he told his son that, despite their age gap, they had been incredibly close.

Peter, who has three other brothers and one sister, Debbie, explained: "I said to him that my brother Andrew was 16 years older than me and he was my best friend, he was the one I was closest to."

However, when probed about whether he wanted anymore children, Peter said that it would be up to Emily.

But he added: "Me being 48, I hope she doesn't. I've had loads of kids, I'm happy, she's so wonderful and she's an incredible mum.

"I said to her, 'Don't forget, you might want more kids but think about how our kids will grow older and maybe one of them will bring us children! And then we can do it all again but we can also hand them back!"
