Peter Andre discusses mental effect and 'anxiety' of his coronavirus experience

Peter Andre has discussed his experience with coronavirus after testing positive earlier this month.

The singer and TV presenter and his wife Emily say they are still unsure how he contracted the virus, and initially didn't think he had it because of his symptoms.

Peter, alongside Emily, spoke out on Tuesday's Good Morning Britain, including on the side effects he is still suffering from.

The 47-year-old told GMB hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid: "I was absolutely convinced that I did not have coronavirus and even you were convinced, right?"

Emily said: "Yes it was not textbook how it presented in you and it was a lesson for both of us wasn't it? You shouldn't ignore the symptoms."

Peter went on to say he had a cough, which was not persistent but persistent enough, and felt stiff and achey.

"But people have had it far worse than me. One of my cousins is still on oxygen now," he said.

"And he had it before me!

"It just got to show you cannot ignore this and ignore the symptoms. It is affecting people in different ways. You cannot ignore it."

On how he is now, Peter added: "The only things I have noticed I still have no sense of smell, and I went for a small bike ride yesterday and I was completely puffed out, and that never happens to me.

"It's the psychological thing of 'is it gonna get worse at some point?' … this is what the problem is.

"You can't help what is happening in your mind, I'm thinking, I'm finding it hard to breathe and Emily is saying to calm down, a lot of it's anxiety."

Pete's family, including young children Amelia and Theo, all self-isolated at home for 10 days as per Government guidelines.

Emily is an NHS doctor working on the frontline and she tested positive for Covid-19 back in July.
