Mysterious Girl singer Peter Andre is the latest celebrity to sign up for the next series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Andre, who last year became the face of supermarket chain Iceland’s TV advertising, is the seventh celebrity to sign up for the hit BBC1 dancing competition.
Andre said the BBC had asked him to take part in previous series of Strictly Come Dancing, but he reluctantly had to turn them down.
“Strictly Come Dancing is an incredible show,” he said. “I’ve always loved watching it on TV and, to be honest, I’m flattered to have been asked to take part before, but due to certain work commitments was unable to. I now feel the time is right to give it a go – everything has just clicked into place to do it this year.”
The 42-year-old, who found global fame in the 90s with singles Mysterious Girl and Flava, has been a fixture on UK television following his appearance on the ITV series I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here in 2004.
Andre came third in the televised contest, which was won by Kerry Katona and was where he met his future wife Katie Price, whom he divorced in 2009.
Peter married Emily MacDonagh in a wedding in Exeter in July. He later revealed the second part of his honeymoon had been put on hold due to his busy schedule this year.
Andre joins stars including Katie Derham, the former ITV News reader, BBC presenter Jeremy Vine, celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott, BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood, Coronation Street actor Georgia May Foote and Eastenders actor Kellie Bright.
The 13th series of Strictly Come Dancing begins on BBC1 in September.
