Peter Andre admits wife Emily's strict rules make older kids 'eye roll' when they stay

Peter Andre has admitted wife Emily MacDonagh’s strict rules make his older kids “eye roll” when they stay at their Surrey home.

The Mysterious Girl singer revealed Emily doesn’t let younger kids Millie, nine, and six-year-old Theo go on their iPads in the week.

In fact the only time the youngsters are allowed any screen time is on Saturday and Sunday mornings.

When it comes to sitting down to eat together, their dining table is a ‘no-phones zone’ – and the family have a one-screen policy while they are watching TV.

This is in stark contrast to the upbringing his older kids he shares with ex Katie Price had.

Junior Andre, who will turn 18 in June, and Princess, 15, grew up glued to their devices – but they aren’t allowed on them when Emily is around.

In a candid interview with The Times, dad Pete revealed: “Emily’s a very strict mum... you should see the eye-rolling.”

Gushing about his NHS doctor wife, who he has been with since 2010, he praised her for making him see things differently as he’s got older.

Pete, who has just turned 50, said: “She’s smart and sensible and organised and she makes me things very differently. She has made me be like I was when I was really young.

“I sort of went into this crazy life from my late teens to 40 and then all of a sudden she has brought out the simple part of me again.”

He even claims that in over a decade together, the couple are yet to have an argument, saying Emily has a calming effect on him.

These days Pete says he “never gets angry” but admitted he began to rebel in his teens after being brought up as a strict Jehovah’s Witness.

He shared he went to church five days a week and on weekends would go round knocking on people’s doors to spread the word the end of the world was nigh.

Now a children’s author himself, he said the only book he was allowed to read as a child was the bible.

But when his music career took off after he landed a record deal at 16 following an appearance on Australian talent show New Faces, he “rebelled against everything”.

“I hadn’t been allowed to do anything, so it was just mad,” Pete explained.

Although he never touched drugs as “that would have broken my parent’s hearts”, he admitted there was a lot of casual sex, shirtless posing and arrogance – which he feels bad about now.

Pete said: “It was an insecurity thing, trying to prove a point because of the years that you weren’t accepted. I don’t like who I became when I was just going with girls and not caring. I just went off on a tangent.”

His behaviour led to a nervous breakdown at the height of his fame when he was just 25 years old.

It began with brain fog, which led to a host of other conditions, such as panic attacks – that he still suffers from occasionally to this day. He also developed depression, anxiety, agoraphobia – a fear of going out – and even vertigo.

But after six years of medication and therapy, Pete was thrust back into the spotlight when he took part in I’m A Celebrity 2004.

These days, he is still a singer, as well as an author, TV star, and most recently appeared in Grease in the West End.
